Ms. Mildred M. Schmidt, age 91, formerly of 1206 Aherns St., Manitowoc, passed away Saturday, February 25, 1995, at the Shady Lane Nursing Home.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, 1995, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Barnes, with cremation having taken place.
She was born June 14, 1903, in Curtis, Wis., daughter of the late William and Allie Wright Schmidt. She attended schools in Rib Lake, graduating from the high school there in 1919. She attended Lawrence University from 1919 to 1921. She then taught school from 1921 to 1928, in various schools in northern Wisconsin. She received her B.A. Degree from Lawrence University in 1920, and her Masters from Northwestern University in 1941. She came to Manitowoc in 1929, and taught Science for 36 years at Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School. She retired from teaching in 1965. Ms. Schmidt was past president of the American Association Chapter of University Women of Manitowoc. She was an active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two nieces, Janet Lester, Madison, Gerine Keller, Nekoosa, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Viola Schmidt, Wisconsin Rapids. She was also survived by many good friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Chester Schmidt. Friends may greet the family from 1 p.m. Friday, until the time of service at the church. There will be no Thursday evening visitation at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Shady Lane Garden Fund and the Garden of Remembrance of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
