Virginia "Kay" (Kemple) Gilpin, 77, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on December 9, 1943 in Linn, Missouri; a daughter of the late George and Nanny (Monroe) Kemple. She was united in marriage on June 5, 1965 to David Gilpin in Jefferson City.

Kay was a graduate of Linn High School. She was employed with Capitol Plaza Hotel for over 20 years until her retirement. Kay enjoyed watching animal shows on television and playing family games. Her passion was taking care of her family.

She is survived by her children: Dennis Gilpin (Patty) of Jefferson City, Jeffery Gilpin of Russellville and Sara Colter of Russellville; sisters: Vivian Spurgeon and Nancy Ford; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, David; brother: Glen Kemple; sisters: Margie Ridenhour, Mary Banks and Carol Bowers.

Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Weber-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Walter Gilpin officiating. Interment will be held at Enloe Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jefferson City Humane Society.
