Kenneth Cooke, 85, Carmel, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, due to a car accident. Ken was born April 22, 1922, in Carroll County, to Chester C. and Lottie Ann Brown Cooke, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Hanover College, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He received his master's degree from Indiana University. Ken was a World War II Navy veteran.

He retired as superintendent of the Northwestern School Corp. in 1987. Ken was the first principal of Carroll High School, after the consolidation, and was previously the principal at Flora High School.

He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Education Fraternity, Rotary Clubs in Flora, Kokomo and Carmel; the Mayor's Substance Abuse Council in Kokomo and was also a board member of the United Way. He had been a member and elder of First Presbyterian Churches of Flora and Kokomo.

Ken is survived by his wife, Barbara Bennett Cooke; sons, Will, Tom and wife Jill, Dave and wife Kim and Tony and Wife Lisa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, where he was a member. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service in McFarland Hall at Second Presbyterian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, or Rotary International Foundation.
