Roy Dean Baugh, Sr., was born on July 17, 1946, in the small community of Hog Hair, Louisiana.

As one of seventeen children, he learned at a young age how to be resourceful and persevere. He graduated from Eros High School and Louisiana Tech University where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. He forged a successful career as a computer programmer with Ford, Bacon, and Davis and then at CenturyTel, where he retired.

Roy passed away peacefully on August 1, 2021, after a long illness.

He was incredibly proud of his three sons, Dean, Jerrod, and Duston, and spent a lifetime coaching them from the sidelines of basketball courts, football fields, baseball diamonds, and tennis courts from the time they could each hold a ball. He loved coaching and watching sports – cheering the loudest for Alabama Football and Baylor Women's Basketball, but the Ruston Bearcat Football team held the biggest place in his heart over the last few years. He was a devout Christian and attended West Monroe Primitive Baptist, and his faith in God and his church family provided him peace, strength, and comfort throughout his life. While he enjoyed hunting and fishing during his retirement, he spent most of his time with and cheering for his grandchildren, Bailey, Harper, Duston, Mary Grace, and Tripp.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mary Baugh; brothers, Marshall, Melvin, and Richard; sisters Lois Christy, Nancy Williamson, Brenda Aswell, Helen Lay, and Marie Christy.

Roy is also survived by his siblings, Lemuel Baugh, Odell Baugh, Norman Baugh, Evelyn Osbon, Linette Wheelis, Debbie Baugh, Hollie Alford, and Teresa Ferguson along with numerous nieces and nephews; his daughters-in-law, Sharon, Lydia, and Keshia; and the mother of his children, Nova Smith.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rosemont Assisted Living Facility for their care of Roy during the last years of his life and Brother William "Dub" Hatten for the countless hours he devoted to Roy so that he could attend church services and receive spiritual counseling until his death.

Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana, from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Graveside services will be conducted by Brother Hatten at Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery in Eros, Louisiana, on Sunday, 2 o'clock on August 8, 2021. Pallbearers will be David Smith, Terry Baugh, Leon Christy, Steven Baugh, Eugene Harper, and Erik Aswell.
