Betty attended schools in Cambridge. At one time she was employed at Dollar General as an assistant manager, but most recently she was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the slots.
Betty is survived by her husband Mel Adkins of Cambridge, a son Terry Wyatt and companion Carol Andrews of West Virginia, a grandson Michael Wyatt and companion Lisa of Cambridge, a great grandson Kayden Wyatt, several nieces, nephews and a special friend Donna Dawson. Besides her parents, Mrs. Adkins is preceded in death by her third husband Richard D. Walton, six brothers James A. Paul, Russell A. Paul, Jr., Joseph R. Paul, William R. Paul, David Paul and Steve Paul.
Pallbearers will be Terry Wyatt, Michael Wyatt, Donald Bell, Robert Maynard, Roger Adams and Francis Gilbert.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Dave Wooten officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
