S. William "Bill" Dantzler of 236 Ridgecrest Rd., Bluefield, died on November 20, 2007 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was 90 years old.

He was a certified public accountant and retired in 1981 as area Partner-in-charge of the Bluefield-Princeton area of Brown and Edwards and Company, a regional accounting firm. Prior to that, he was associated with several public accounting firms and mining companies. He was the son of the late George W. and Minnie Alma Dantzler of Winona, Miss.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Mrs. J. R. Young, Mrs. R. H. Mitchell, Mrs. William Bell, and George W. Dantzler, Jr. of Mississippi, John A, Dantzler of Birmingham, Capt. T. T. Dantzler, USN (retired) and W. Devotie Dantzler of Florida.

He was a graduate of Winona High School, the University of Kentucky and performed graduate work at George Washington University and various professional seminars during the years of his accounting practice. A resident of Bluefield since 1947 he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer and on various committees of the church. He was a director of the AAA Blue Grass Automobile Club. He also served the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce as Treasurer for a number of years and as its president during the years of 1982-1983; Treasurer of Community Concerts for a period of 25 years; director of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants; Kiwanis Club of Bluefield since 1947 where he served in many offices, including president in 1965; and Treasurer if the local United Way for several years. Playing in the University of Kentucky band and singing in his church chair for over 50 years; contributed to his well-being over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rachel Jones Dantzler; daughter, Susan E. Dantzler of Bluefield; son, George E. Dantzler of Tazewell, Va.; grandchildren, George "Jay" E. Dantzler Jr. of Pulaski, Stephanie L. Rumley of Bluefield and Shannon L. & husband Brian Nicholson of Roanoke; great grandchildren, Brianna D. Comer, Kathryn J. Rumley, Philip R. Rumley III, of Bluefield, and Aiden C. Nicholson of Roanoke, Va.

A memorial service will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday November 24, 2007 with the Rev. Howard Finkel and the Rev. Bill Dantzler officiating.

Visitation will be held in Patterson Chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Saturday. A fellowship gathering following services will be held in Fellowship Hall for all friends and family. A private graveside service will be held for family at Monte Vista Park Cemetery.
