Bruce Carl Holcomb, 76, of 1567 Eads Mill Road in Princeton died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Beckley V.A. Hospital in Beckley.

Born January 26, 1931 in Winona, he was the son of the late Herman and Ruby Jones Holcomb. He was a retired Machine Repairman at Pittsburgh Plate Glass. Mr. Holcomb, along with his deceased wife, enjoyed buying, selling and trading at area flea markets as well as the markets in Dublin and Hillsville, Va. Bruce also had a keen interest in the activities and progress of the children being treated at St. Jude's Hospital. Mr. Holcomb was a Korean War veteran having served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the local V.F.W.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Edna "Maggie" Holcomb on May 21, 2007; and a grandson, Bruce Leeper.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Leeper of Princeton; two sons, Bruce "Carl "Holcomb of Akron, Ohio and Jeffrey Holcomb and wife Drema of Princeton; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Bud Holcomb; and one half brother, Jack Holcomb, both of Rupert; one half sister, Elly Mattingly, of Atlanta, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2007 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with the Rev. Larry Dyer, officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakvale Cemetery with the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard presenting military rites.

Family and friends will serve as pallbears.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Monday until the service hour.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
