Obituary:
Donna Lorenzen Figoras, 86, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away peacefully, Thursday January 14, 2021. Donna was born on September 3, 1934, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Bertha (Wulf) Lorenzen.
She grew up and helped her parents on the family farm, played basketball, enjoyed a large family, and graduated from Rock Rapids High School. She had six brothers – Ted, Norbert, Loren, Vernon, Ken, and Dwight, and one sister – Elaine Ault.
After graduation, she moved to Virginia where she met Eric Figoras, who was in the U.S. Army at the time. Donna and Eric married July 4th, 1959 and settled in Ansonia, CT. They were married for 57 years until Eric's passing in 2016. The couple was blessed with two sons, Bob in Durham, CT. and Ron in Palm Beach Gardens, FL., two daughters-in-law, Ann and Pam, six grandchildren, Mallory, Mara, Aubrey (Bob and Ann), Katrina, Lexi, and Tyson (Ron and Pam) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donna volunteered at her children's activities, enjoyed playing and attending sports, especially UCONN Huskies basketball, and was very active at Immanuel Lutheran Church including choir, Church Council, and teaching Sunday School for many years. She worked at Cleary Millwork, in Rocky Hill, CT., before retiring. Donna moved to Florida in 2017 to be closer to her Floridian family. She lived at Brookdale Senior Living in Palm Beach Gardens, where she enjoyed many activities, dominated the bingo venue, socialized with residents, and enjoyed visits with her grandchildren. Donna was loved by all for her kind and gentle spirit, her giving heart, and for her love of all people.
