Died - Penelope Sibley, born 6-9-1825, married Archibald Varnado when she was 15. They moved to Sabine Parish and lived there two years, moving from there to Pike Co. in 1846, where they lived until 2861 (should be 1861) when they returned to Washington Parish. They were ten children, fifty grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The children were Samuel, E.F., I.N., and W.F. Varnado, Mandy, wife of B.F. Fisher, Aderine, wife of W.M. Wascom, Angeline, wife of T.B. Erwin, Lizzie, wife of W.J. Pittman, Ida, wife of W.W. Adams.
Her husband died 12-21-1862. She lived a widow a few years and then
married John Fisher, who only lived twelve years after the marriage. She died 10-5-1916 at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
She joined the Baptist church at Beulah, La., moving her membership with her from Mt. Zion to Barney Creek and thence to Enon, and lastly to Franklinton, where it remained for thirty years. Mrs. Fisher was buried at the Varnado Cemetery near Franklinton on 10-6-1916. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.T. Corkern, assisted by Rev. J.J. Walker.
