Wilbert Meidinger, 95, of Wishek, passed away August 28, 2021 at the Wishek Living Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Faith Community Church, Wishek, ND at 10:30 AM.  Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 2-5 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek and continue at Faith Community Church from 5-7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the church. Burial will be at New Kassel Cemetery, Zeeland, ND.

Wilbert Meidinger was born on January 4, 1926 to Albert C. and Emma (Schwindt) Meidinger on the family farm 10 miles North of Zeeland, N.D., in McIntosh County.   He attended rural country school until 8th grade.  He was united in marriage to Landina Sayler on November 1, 1949 at St. Andrews Lutheran Parsonage in Zeeland, ND. They celebrated their 69 years of marriage with family in 2018.  In 1951, they purchased the Adam Just farm, 21 miles SW of Wishek where they farmed, ranched, and raised their children.  Wilbert served as a church council member for many years at New Kassel Church and later was an active member of the UCC church in Wishek. He was instrumental in organizing school and phone boundaries and was called upon many other rural decisions. They retired and moved to Wishek in 1998.  Wilbert continued helping his son, Gene, during planting and harvesting for several years after retirement.  After suffering a stroke, he transitioned into the Wishek Living Center in 2014 until he met our Lord peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 28, 2021 at the age of 95 years.

Wilbert was a hardworking, dependable family man.  His grandchildren were always amazed at how he could beat them in races and even stand on his head well into his 70s! His great grandchildren referred to him as "Grandpa Great" which was very fitting. He loved staying active with fishing, hunting, trapping and took pride in his horses.  Over the holidays, Wilbert would prepare his horses and flatbed for a hayride with the whole family.  Wilbert would take Landina to the casinos which happened more in retirement years. He enjoyed pinochle and shooting pool with his brothers and friends. Wilbert also enjoyed playing accordion and piano, which he learned by ear, and dancing, especially to the polka. He was famous for his homemade sausage.  Wilbert will be deeply missed.  His family will cherish all the wonderful memories especially the family gatherings for holidays.

Wilbert is survived by his four children and their spouses, Gene (Phyllis) Meidinger, Connie (Merrill) Piepkorn, Diane (Dennis) Glas, Tommy (Maggie) Meidinger; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Luella Foerderer Davis, Alma Rath, Alvina (Herman) Sayler, Arlene (Melvin) Kaseman; brother-in-law, Adam Kaseman; and sisters-in-law, Delores Meidinger and Phyllis A. Meidinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. and Emma; wife, Landina; infant son, Randall Dale Meidinger; grandson, Denver James Glas; brothers, Marvin Meidinger, Wilmer (Wilma) Meidinger and Edgar Meidinger; sisters, Gertrude (Arthur) Kaseman, Viola (Alvin) Raile, Lorraine Kaseman; brothers-in-law, Walter Rath, Edward Foerderer and Delton Davis.
