Actor. He was best known to television viewers as the jaded principal Seymour Kaufman of Walt Whitman High School on the popular 1970s ABC series "Room 222." He was also well known for his role as the Windex-spritzing father on the 2002 film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." He studied acting with Howard Da Silva and was a part of the "Inherit the Wind" company for two years. In 1959, he made his acting debut in the film "The Last Mile." Besides "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," he went on to appear in such films as "The Hustler," (1961) "Beau Geste," (1966) "Don't Drink the Water," (1969) "Voyage of the Damned," (1976) "Thinner," (1996) and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2." (2016) That same year, he made his "small screen" debut on the series "Brenner." Besides "Room 222," he went on to appear in such series as "The Untouchables," "The Richard Boone Show," "Hey, Landlord," "The Virginian," "Sirota's Court," "Quincy M.E.," "Remington Steele," and "My Big Fat Greek Life."
