Mrs. Ivy Gann Ends Life

Mrs. Ivy Gann, residing five miles southeast of town, died Tuesday evening of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Mrs. Gann was in the home of her son, Bobbie D Gann, at the Keeny place, when the tragedy occurred. While in the presence of her daughter-in-law and young grandchildren, she seized a .22 target gun and when the younger Mrs. Gann attempted to get it from her, she threatened her life. Mrs. Gann with her children ran to summon aid, but when only a few yards from the house, they heard the gun fire. When she and her husband reached the scene Mrs. Gann was dead, the fatal shot being in the middle of her forehead.

Only a few months ago Mr. Gann died, and since that time she had made attempts to take her life.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Macedonia. Besides this son, Bobbie D, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Gann, her mother and two brothers, Morris and Harvey Allen, all of Chickasaw County.
