Clyo Virginia Gann, died Sunday, Nov. 1999 at her residence in Okolona after a sudden illness. She was born in Chickasaw County to the late William Ivy and Lena Mae Allen Gann. She lived her entire life in Chickasaw County. She was a longtime resident of Okolona and the former owner of Gann's Florist. For over 30 years, she was involved in the funeral business working many years for Barry Funeral Home Downtown Okolona and, at the time of her death, was the Director/Manager of the Okolona Funeral Home. Mrs. Gann was a licensed Mississippi Funeral Director. She was also the manager/bookkeeper for the Oddfellows Cemetery Association. Mrs. Gann was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Okolona and a participant in the Merry Circle there. She was a former member of the Pilot Club, member of the Okolona Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Okolona Country Club. She was the widow of the late Rubin Gann who died in 1973.

A service celebrating her life was held Tuesday, November 9, 1999, from the First United Methodist Church in Okolona with Dr. Wallace Cayson and the Rev. Jim Smith officiating.

The eulogy was delivered by Steve Holland, Entombment was in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum at Lee Memorial Park in Verona. Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Larry Gann of Guntown; two grandchildren, Virginia Lynne Gann and John Rubin Gann, both of Guntown; her special friend Bob Ellis of Okolona and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Frank Westbrook, Harold Turner, Houston Minniece, Paul Lollar, Harold Blaylock, David Coleman, Donnie Wayne Sullivan and Sammie Graves. Honorary pallbearers were her Sunday School Class.
