Born Claude Marie Alice Plattner. In 1951, after her debut in Jean Cocteuau´s "Orphée" (1950) and "La Plus Belle Fille du monde", she was elected ambassador of Paris at the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The following year, she made a music hall tour in Canada and appeared on American television. She gave up her artistic career in 1957 after her marriage to the jazz musician Jean-Louis Viale.
She died tragically in a Parisian hospital, after falling out of the window of her apartment on the third floor, trying to catch her cat that had escaped.
