Mary O'Boyle Connor, 96, of North Palm Beach, FL and Cotuit, MA, died peacefully at her home in Florida on March 11, 2014. She was the wife of the late John T. Connor, to whom she was married for sixty years, and the mother of the late Lisa F. Connor. She is survived by her sons, John T. Connor, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL and Cotuit, MA and Geoffrey M. Connor of Pottersville, NJ and Cotuit, MA; her daughter-in-law, Susan Scholle Connor; her sister, Elizabeth Waldheim of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Seanna Connor Walter, Marin Connor Smith, Josh Connor, Taylor Connor, Michael Connor and Grafton Connor; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Connor was born in Milwaukee, WI, on May 18, 1917, the daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth Forrestal O'Boyle. She graduated from Manhattanville College in New York. She was a long-time resident of Lost Tree Village, North Palm Beach, FL and had a summer home for over 50 years in Cotuit on Cape Cod, MA. Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Connor had many charitable interests. She was a board member of the National Symphony Orchestra, President of the Summit (NJ) Child Care Center, and a founder of the Newark Boys Chorus School. In Florida, she was a board member of the Lost Tree Charitable Foundation. During his career, her husband was President of Merck & Co, U.S. Secretary of Commerce in the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson, and Chairman of Allied Chemical (now Honeywell). Burial is private. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Ave., Osterville, Cape Cod, MA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Lost Tree Charitable Foundation, 11555 Lost Tree Way, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.
