On sweetest day, my sister found this little guy in the middle of a busy road. She stopped the car and took him home. They named him Sweetie. A few months later she ask if I could take him, they were having a house built and had sold their home, needed to move into an apartment till it was done. So I took him in, with the understanding that he would go back as soon as they had their house.
My youngest son had been discharged from the Marines the week before. He DIDNT like cats and was less than thrilled about this one.
From the day they dropped him off, he thought my son was his best friend and it didn't matter if Allon thought so or not. After about 3 hours, my son started calling him PITA...(for Pain In The...well you can guess).
Who knew 3 weeks later PITA would save my sons life.
Everyone in our community knew about the event, and when they would see PITA outside they would stop and talk to him...or stop the car and say..."hey you save anyones life today??"

I would talk for him....and answer....using a little boy kind of voice. If I called someone on the phone using the voice they would talk to HIM....He usually called to tell someone about a storm coming and they would say Thank you PITA for worring about me...but most often he would call and tell my friends and family it was his birthday and try to get presents and a cake....sometimes a couple of times a week!!! Everyone played along because he was so cute when they were around him...it was almost like he could talk.

If it wasn't for him, my son would have died. So my Sister didn't have the heart to take him back!
He was so loved, and funny. He had the cutest little ways.
BUT every neighborhood has one...a jerk who doesn't like anyone or anything and one day PITA came in with a hole in his side. I thought it was a bullet hole, but I found out after he died, the neighbor had shot him with a bow and arrow, then took the arrow out and left him to die. He came home and lasted a few days....
I sure do miss him.....he was a friend....and really a hero.

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN
Written by Beverly Teibel

I'M FLYING ROUND IN HEAVEN
I HAVE THESE STUPID WINGS
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THEM
KEEP CRASHING INTO THINGS

I DON'T QUITE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED
BUT RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES
A MAN STANDING BEFORE ME
SAID I'D USED UP MY 9 LIVES

THE LAST THING I REMEMBERED
I WAS LYING ON THE FLOOR
I LOOKED UP AND THEN I SAW THEM
ANGELS COMING THRU THE DOOR

THEY SAID WE'VE COME TO TAKE YOU
IT'S TIME THAT YOU MOVE ON
I SAID I CAN'T GO WITH YOU
GRAMMY'S SAD WHEN I AM GONE

ONE ANGEL GENTLY HELD ME
SHE STROKED AND SMOOTHED MY FUR
OH PITA MAN, YOUR GRAMMY KNOWS
AND I BEGAN TO PURR

SHE KNOWS THAT YOU'VE BEEN VERY SICK
AND EVEN THO' SHE'LL CRY
SHE'LL UNDERSTAND THE REASON
HER PITA MANNY DIED

WE WAITED TIL SHE WENT TO WORK
IT WAS THE THING TO DO
SHE'LL HAVE HER FRIEND WHO LOVES YOU TOO
COERTJE WILL HELP HER THRU

I TOOK A BREATH, TOLD DOLPH SO LONG
DON'T WORRY, I'LL BE FINE
TAKE CARE OF GRAMMY, YOU BE GOOD
I TELL YOU LAST DAM TIME

NEXT THING I KNOW I'M HEAVEN BOUND
THEY SET ME ON MY FEET
I FEEL SO YOUNG, SO FULL OF PEP
THE FEELING CAN'T BE BEAT

AND PIGGY'S THERE, SHE GREETED ME
IT WAS GREAT I SAY
WE STARTED CHASING CHIPMUNK FRIENDS
IT WAS THE BESTEST DAY

SO I AM WRITING SO YOU KNOW
IN DYING DO NOT FEAR
WE'LL BE WAITING BY THE GATE
FOR YOU OH GRAMMY DEAR

SO MOSTLY HEAVEN'S VERY FUN
THERE'S NO PAIN OR FLEAS
I'M VERY HAPPY WHERE I AM
SO DON'T BE SAD FOR ME

JUST KNOW I LOVED YOU JUST AS MUCH
IT'S HARD TO SAY GOODBYE
JUST WAIT FOR ANGELS - THEY WILL COME
TO HEAVEN HELP YOU FLY

GOODBYE MY GRAM, GOODBYE MY DOLPH
GOODBYE AUNT COERTJE TOO
WHEN IT'S YOUR TURN MAYBE I'LL COME
AND I'LL FLY HOME WITH YOU

THERE IS A RULE THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
ONE I DON'T LIKE SO FINE
UP HERE I'M NEVER 'LOWED TO SAY
"I TELL YOU LAST DAMN TIME"

Beverly

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
