Professional Basketball Player. For five-seasons (1969 to 1974), he played at the shooting-guard position in the National and American Basketball Associations with the San Diego Rockets and Virginia Squires. Born Bernard Williams, he attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland and played collegiate basketball at La Salle University. While with the Explorers, Williams helped lead his team to a 23-1 record and a near-top ranking during the 1968-1969 season, as he averaged 16-6 points-per-game. Selected by the San Diego Rockets during the 2nd round of the 1969 NBA Draft, he totaled 283 career regular season games. He produced a career-high 888 points during the 1972-1973 season while with the Virginia Squires. Williams was inducted into the La Salle University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Philadelphia "Big Five" Hall of Fame in 1982. He died from colon cancer.
