Brett was a wonderful person. He was always smiling. I bought my bike from him at Bike Gallery. He did well selling bikes not because he could rattle of specs and weights and material names and suspension designs. He was good at what he did because people knew that he was truly happy to be helping them with a bike.
Brett was a competitive cyclist. He achieved his finest result recently, 3rd in the singlespeeds at the Cross Crusade at Rainier HS. If he had finished 300th instead of 3rd he would have looked equally as happy, knowing he had ridden to his true maximum physical capacity. He didn't take off to shower and recover after he finished. He stayed to cheer on his friends who had yet to race, and to be with his friends that already had.
Brett was also an artist, a painter. He was a graduate of the Pacific Northwest College of art. His exemplary life has been his masterpiece.
Survived by his girlfriend, Sarah.
====================
The Bike Gallery - with the support of Brett's close family and friends - has decided to establish a memorial fund in honor of Brett's life. The Brett Jarolimek Memorial Fund will be sponsored by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA), which will administer the collection and distribution of donations under its charter as a 501 C-3 nonprofit organization. The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is based in Portland Oregon and exists to support bicycle and pedestrian safety and transportation concerns throughout the state.
Thank you to Dean Tracy and Bike Gallery in Portland for providing details for this tribute. Please contact me if you have additional (survivor) information to add.
A heartfelt thanks to Harold & Wanda Blackwell for sponsoring Brett's memorial page.
