Phyllis F. (McGann) Detlefs, 85, formerly of Taunton, MA, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Academy Point at Mystic.

Mrs. Detlefs was born in Taunton, MA to the late John J. McGann and Eileen E. (Gallagher) McGann.

She graduated from Taunton High School in 1954, and later worked at the Reed and Barton Silversmith. She married Leslie Detlefs in 1958, and raised two children, David and Michael, with him in New Jersey. She later worked at Merck Pharmaceutical in Rahway, NJ. She had a love of sailing, crewing on trips to Bermuda, and retired with her long-time partner, Jorulf Tranoy, to Mystic, CT, where they kept a sailboat. She also loved to travel, and visited many places in Europe.

Mrs. Detlefs is survived by her son David Detlefs and his wife Ann, of Seattle, WA; her brother John McGann and his wife Mary of Taunton; her daughter-in-law Beverly Detlefs, of Lopatcong, NJ; her sisters-in-law Edna Detlefs, of Washington, NJ, and Anne McGann, of Taunton; and her grandsons Brian Detlefs, of Lynnwood, WA, and John Detlefs, of San Marcos, TX. She was a fond and proud aunt to her nieces Colleen, Kerry, Cathy, and Dawn, her nephews Shawn, George, Christopher, and Jonathon, and to several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She is predeceased by her brother Francis McGann, her sister Maureen ("Micky") Barber, her younger son Michael Detlefs, and her long-time partner Jorulf Tranoy.

Calling Hours for Mrs. Detlefs will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 9:30am - 10:30am in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, Taunton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton followed by a burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E. Britannia Street, Taunton.
