Michael Charles Detlefs, 48, of Lopatcong Township passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at home.

Born October 23, 1963 in Plainfield, NJ he was the son of Leslie Detlefs of Port Charlotte, FL and Phyliss Detlefs of Mystic, CT.

He was the owner of Detlefs Tree Service, Inc. He and his wife, Beverly (Sibiga) Detlefs were married December 6, 1998. He was a 1981 graduate of Westfield High School and was a graduate of Delaware Valley College where he received a Bachelors Degree in Biology with an Environmental Option.

Michael was a Green Bay Packers fan. He was an outdoor sports fan and participated in ultimate frisbee. He loved fishing and was a top notch tree expert. He attended First Baptist Church in Lopatcong Township. He enjoyed the Adirondack Mountains, especially Saranac Lake.

He became a real estate agent working for ERA in Scotch Plains, NJ and was also a State Certified Home Inspector.

In addition to his beloved wife, Beverly he is survived by a brother David
and his wife, Ann, of Issaquah, WA; many loving nieces and nephews; loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and mother-in-law; as well as many close friends, including beloved Dick Monroe and Dot Sobin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church, 810 Red School Lane, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Park, Route 27, North Brunswick, NJ.
