Barry Lee Bitting, 71 of Woodville, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Texas.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 3:30pm at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church on Hwy 190 in Dam-B. Officiating will be Brother Jesse Hughes.

Barry was born November 26, 1940 to Richard Longacre & Evelyn Amanda Krietz Bitting in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was a former resident of Teaneck, New Jersery and Crossville, Tennessee and had lived in Woodville for the past 5 years. He was a retired operator from the chemical industry. Prior to getting dementia from Alzheimer's disease, he was a kind, sweet, lovable man that would do anything for anybody. He always put others first. He was an independent hard worker who could fix just about anything. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Evelyn Bitting; brother, Louis Bitting; daughters, LeeAnn Marie Bitting and Suzanne Lynn Bitting; and Baby Chris.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maria Virginia Bitting of Woodville; and brother, Glenn Earl Bitting of Bogota, New Jersey.

Cremation services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
