Son of Joseph Earl and Lorraine (Willoughby) Berman. After graduating from Columbia College he worked as a police officer. He served in the U.S. Navy until retirement. He married Debbie Raney on December 23, 1977 in Rosston, TX. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Boyd. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Berman; and son, Eric Berman. Surviving are his mother, Lorraine Berman of Cambridge, MD; wife of 43 years, Debbie Berman of Boyd; son, James Ryan Berman and wife, Elaine of Paradise.
