Born on May 4, 1890 in Spring Mills, West Virginia, a son of the late Benjamin and Sara Elliott Armstead, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former, Anna Marie Stovall, who died suddenly in 1938; and brother, Ben Lee Armstead in 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Robinson Armstead, who he married in 1938; two daughters, Mrs. Inez TheresaAnderson and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Abercrombie; plus three sons, Lorenzo Jr., Lowell and Roland Armstead.
