VALPARAISO -- Verla C. Wittwer, 72, of Valparaiso, died Thursday, Dec. 1, in Porter Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1915, in Valparaiso, she was the daughter of Norman and Flora (Williamson) Pierce. She was married to Walter Skinner, who preceded her in death. She later married Julius Wittwer, who also preceded her in death.
She was a lifelong resident of Valparaiso.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice R. Ritz of Valparaiso; one granddaughter; one sister, Marge McCray of Valparaiso.
Services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bartholomew Funeral Home; Dr. M. W. Robert Craig officiating; burial Graceland Cemetery; visitation 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home; memorials to the Porter County Cancer Society.
