Born on May 1, 1935, in Logansport, IN, he was the son of the late George E. and Zella B. (Cress) Baer. On May 3, 1957 in Logansport, IN, he married Marilyn J. Bernhardt, who preceded him in death on October 26, 2021.
Robert was a retired truck driver for D & B Ready Mix and IMI Concrete. Bob also owned and operated Baer's Lawn and Garden Sales for many years.
Surviving are two daughters; one daughter-in-law; two sisters; one sister-in-law; six granddaughters; three grandsons; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, David E. Baer; three sisters - Luila Berkshire, Rita Parkins and Marcella Rist; three brothers - Allen L. Baer, Emery Baer and Ben Baer; son-in-law, Larry E. Howard; two grandchildren, Sean Beall and Nathan Berry; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lilyian Berry and Maximus Emmons.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday.
