Irene was born on August 19, 1914, in Edgar, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (née Schroeder) Mathiesen. She was a graduate of Edgar High School. On November 21, 1940, Irene was married to Laurence W. Habeck at Wausau. The couple then moved to Manitowoc. Laurence preceded her in death on September 12, 1989.
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Immanuel's Ladies Aid. Irene enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, and knitting.
Survivors include her two sons: Wayne Habeck of Rhinelander, and his
special friend, Billiette Lund; and Robert Habeck of Manitowoc. Also surviving are one
sister-in-law, Mary Mathiesen of Stratford; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Minnie Mathiesen; her husband: Laurence; three brothers: Leonard Mathiesen; Alfred Mathiesen; Raymond Mathiesen; and two sisters: Ella Singleman and Alma Marquardt.
Funeral services will be held at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum on Hwy 310, with entombment to follow.
