Donald L. Beauseigneur Sr., 85, of Clearfield, PA died Dec. 11 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

Born April 5, 1922 in Hubbard, Oregon, he was the son of Aloysius F. And Ethel (Shaw) Beauseigneur.

He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1978, after thirty years of service, where he had served as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Beauseigneur was a self employed roofing contractor for 35 years and was also the former owner of Beauseigneur Roofing Company.

Mr. Beauseigneur was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, where he was active on various boards and committees and was very active with the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Clearfield Lodge #540, where he was named 'Elk of the Year' in 1981-1982. Mr. Beauseigneur was also a member of the John Lewis Shade Post #6 of the American Legion in Clearfield, the Rural Letter Carriers Organization, Clearfield Area Builders Association, and the Deerlawn Camp.

Mr. Beauseigneur was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the infantry as a Heavy Machine Gunner 605, during World War II in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, where he received the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Nine Campaign Stars, a Silver Star, four Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Hallie J. (Beish) Beauseigneur, whom he married Aug. 30, 1947 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield; three children: Debra Dukatz and her husband Ervin of LaCrosse, WI, Brenda Ryan and her husband Joseph and Donald L. Beauseigneur, Jr and his companion Dana Pierce all of Clearfield, PA; eight grandchildren: Thomas Dukatz, Kathryn Dukatz, Daniel Ryan, Beau Ryan, David Ryan, Jayme Ryan, Grace Beauseigneur and William Beauseigneur. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

having been preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Cartwright and Esther Shifter; two brothers, Henri Beauseigneur and Harold "Harley" Beauseigneur.

Funeral services will be held on Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield, with Rev. Jay Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard, with members from the American Legion, John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1785.

Friends will be received at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield on Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from noon until the hour of services.
