Barbara Jean Johnson of St. Marys, WV, left this world for her heavenly home on November 8, 2021. She fought a long battle with cancer but always wore a smile and lived by her life mantra, "why worry when I can pray."

On August 6, 1939, Barbara was born in Beech, West Virginia, and grew up in Hurricane, West Virginia. Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Hurricane High School. She enjoyed being employed at Shouldis' Department Store for 15 years and was an avid collector of antiques, Coca-Cola items, and dolls. Barbara had a creative spirit and loved to decorate her home, paint, cook, and bake. She was a member of North Pleasants Apostolic Tabernacle for 48 years and devoted her life to serving God and people. Barbara was known for her kindness, and her family was most dear to her heart.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Willard Johnson, two daughters, Twila LaBar of Nashville, TN, Tonya (Michael) Houston of St. Marys, WV, grandsons Brandon (Britta) Houston and Baylen (Alicia) Houston, and great-grandchildren, Skyler, Alec, Zander, and two great-grandchildren on the way, brothers Melvin Beckett of Danville, WV, Blaine Beckett of Orlando, FL, Landis Beckett of Montgomery, TX, Glenn Beckett of Hurricane, WV, and David Beckett of Ravenswood, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Berta Beckett.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the North Pleasants Apostolic Tabernacle at 8 Iron Horse Drive, St. Marys, WV, with Pastor Terry Lough officiating. Visiting hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life service. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kelli Cawley and her staff at the Strecker Cancer Center in Marietta, OH, and Housecalls Hospice in Parkersburg, WV. The family also wishes to thank wonderful in-home caregivers Sarita Bennett of St. Marys, WV, Betty Nichols of Parkersburg, WV, and Bettina Gump Dawson of New Matamoras, OH.
