Russell Melvin Beckett Jr., 79, of Danville, WV passed away January 1, 2022.

He was born February 9, 1942 in Hurricane, WV and was a son of the late Russell Melvin Beckett Sr. and Berta Starcher Beckett. In addition to his parents he was reunited with his wife of over 40 years, Gail; and his sister Barbara Johnson.

Melvin loved the outdoors, his dog Lady Bird, reading his Bible and Shepherds Chapel. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and retired from Special Metals in Huntington, WV.

He is survived by daughter, Christine (Chris) Powers of Danville; brothers, Blaine (Mary) Beckett, Landis Beckett, Glen Beckett and David Beckett; two granddaughters, Aaliyah and Presley; very close friend and cousin, Walter Allen; special daughters, Crystal Gillispie and Rebeca Milhoan; and special grandchildren, Chasity, Cassidy, Carter, and Ensley.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 7 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.
