Claire was born May 8, 1925, in the Town of Franklin to the late Joseph and Anna (Brey) Stedl. Claire completed Nurse's Aide Training in Florida and was a Private Duty Certified Nursing Assistant. Claire was devoted and loyal to her patients, caring for one patient in Florida for 11 years. Upon returning to Manitowoc, Claire worked as a CNA for a homecare agency. Claire was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi-Waldo Parish. She loved to play sheepshead and poker and had a quick wit about her easily making others laugh.

Claire is survived by two grandchildren: Troy (Cindy) Tuschel and Tiffany (Andra) Derico; three great-grandchildren: Emerson Flowers Jr, Chantel Flowers, and Jonathon Tuschel; and by two great-great-grandchildren: Emerson Flowers III and Atreyu Flowers. Claire is also survived by one sister: Gertrude Rivest; one brother: Michael Stedl; one sister-in-law: Ruth Stedl and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. Claire was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Tuschel Bowers in 1995; four sisters and four brothers-in law: Florence (Joe) Podrabsky, Marie (Ernest) Guex, Helen (Robert) Princl, Melvin Rivest, Vernice (Earl) Keehan and four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Walter (Delores) Stedl, Victor (Arlean) Stedl, Clarence Stedl, and Joseph Jr. Stedl.

She spent her last years living at the Manitowoc Health and Rehab Center. Claire specifically wanted in her obituary to thank all the staff and nurses at the Manitowoc Health and Rehab Center for the excellent care they gave her. In particular, she wanted to thank Debbie Bunnell, Amanda Gelbuda, Lisa Peterson, Lauren Peterson, Calla Braun, Charlie Vallejo and Wendie Konitzer, all of whom will serve as her honorary pallbearers. A special thank you also to Melva Kumbalek for her many years of assistance and friendship.

Private services to be held at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel with Deacon Mark Knipp officiating. A luncheon reception will follow the service at the All-Care Crematory and Family Center.
