Obituary.

Alexander C. Bender was born in Overton County, Tennessee, June 19, 1829, and died at Yukon, Oklahoma, June 19, 1909. Aged 80 years. Mr. Bender was one of the early settlers in this part of Kansas having located here in the early seventies. He was a regulary ordained minister and in his earlier life was actively engaged in the work. He had also been a member of the Masonic Order for about forty years.

Besides the widow and other relatives, five of the seven living children were at the funeral - Mrs. Powell, of Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. Ida Shipley, Wichita; John H. Bender, Cleburne, Texas; Sam Bender, Watonga, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Lilly Chinn, Coats, Kansas. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. H.A. Doughty, pastor of the M.E. church Coats, and interment was made in the family cemetery about six miles north of Sun City. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their friends in their sorrow.
