Hilliard Rector, Jr.

Asheville - Hilliard Rector Jr., 80, formerly of Sunset Drive, Asheville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the Brian Center in Weaverville.

A native of Madison County, Mr. Rector lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Hilliard Rector Sr. and Mildred McClure Rector. Mr. Rector retired from Eblen Oil Co. and was of the Baptist denomination.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Gladys Massey Rector; sister, Hildreth Tipton of Marshall; special niece, Phyllis Gurley of Asheville; special nephew, Earl Massey of Weaverville; and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home in Marshall. The Revs. Jerry Freeman, Butch Stillwell and Jimmy Buckner will officiate. Interment will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Brian Center, Weaverville, and Mountain Area Hospice for the care they have given Mr. Rector during his illness.
