William J. DeGarmo, a veteran of the Civil War, who was sent to the Veteran's home in Napa county on June 15th last from Chico, died there yesterday and will be brought here for burial.

DeGarmo came here several years ago and until recently worked in the sash and door department of The Diamond Match Company. When sent to the home last month he was suffering from a complication of diseases and nervous prostration. He was not expected to recover. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Harry Carson, both residents of Chico.

The funeral will be held from the Engel Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, and Rev. G.L. Lobdell will officiate. At the grave Halleck Post, No. 19, G.A.R., will have charge of the services and either Commander W.J. Collins or Adjutant William Bundy will deliver the ritual. The Women's Relief Corps will also attend.

DeGarmo was born in Ohio, June 12, 1838. During the war he served in the Ohio Regiment of the Union Army. After the war he joined the G.A.R. in Iowa. He did not belong to Halleck Post.
