MCLEAN, M. YORKE, ED., CD The death of M. Yorke McLean, ED., CD, of Fredericton, husband of Vernice (Till) McLean occurred on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Fredericton. He was the son of the late Harry Parker and Annie May (Estabrooks) McLean. Lt. Col. McLean was a veteran of World War II and served in England, Sicily, Italy, and North - West Europe with the Royal Canadian Artillery. Following war's end he served with the occupation forces in Germany. His service in the reserve and active forces covered a span of thirty years. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war he was employed with the provincial government, retiring from the Department of Health in 1978. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4, past president of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew, United Services Institute of the Fredericton Area, the 7th Anti - Tank Regiment and the Royal Canadian Artillery Association. Besides his wife he is survived one son W.R. Douglas McLean and his wife Marion of Quispamsis NB; two grandchildren Dennis and Robyn; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brother Hugh McLean. Although there will be no visitation a funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2003 at 2pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunny Bank Cemetery.
