Annie Mai (Shull) Gamble was born on January 30, 1902 in Columbia, South Carolina, the daughter of Amanda Anjilla "Sally" (Roof) (Shull) Roof (1867–1920) and her 1st husband William David "Willie" Shull (1863–1908). {Her obituary has her middle name as Mae, while it's Mai in other public records.}

She was married as the 2nd wife of Clifton Ellis Gamble (1892–1956), the son of Isiah A Gamble (1871-1928) and Nannie Melinda (Bethsheares) Gamble (1871-1955).

Living at 881 Granada in Nashville, Tennessee, Annie was 61 years old and a widow when she had repeated strokes and died on March 13, 1963 at Davidson County Hospital, where she had been for five weeks.

Survivors included stepsons W S Gamble and E H Gamble in Nashville, sisters Mrs Ida Shull, Mrs Bess Cromer and Mrs Lela Shull of Columbia, South Carolina, brother E P Shull also in Columbia, four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.

Funeral Services were held on March 14th at the chapel of Pettus-Owen & Wood Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}.
