Amanda Anjilla "Sally" (Roof) Roof was born on September 9, 1867 in Lexington County, South Carolina, the daughter of Jesse Marion Roof (1837–1911) and Mary Ann "Tarsy" (Shealy) Roof (1834–1893).

She was married 1st in 1884 to William David "Willie" Shull (1863–1908), the son of Daniel Nathaniel Shull (1834–1909) and Margaret Catherine (Roof) Shull (1842–1873). Sally was married 2nd in 1909 to Maxie Raymond "M R" Roof (1890–1960).

An active member of the Methodist church and living at 2310 Gervais Street in Columbia, Sally was 52 years old, married and stricken with paralysis in late February 1920, and she died on March 1st at a Columbia hospital.

Survivors included her husband, sons William E Shull and Wade P Shull of Lexington, Lonnie J Shull in Anniston, Alabama, David H Shull, Edmund P Shull and Lawrence R Shull of Columbia and Dalton G Shull of Lexington, daughters Mrs C J Cromer in Columbia, Mrs Moody Shull at Lexington, Mrs Bessie Hodge in Texas and Mrs Annie Mae Gamble of Nashville, brothers J D Roof and C S Roof in Lexington and D W Hook of Columbia and her sister Mrs Fannie R Wingard of Columbia.

Funeral Services were held on March 3rd at Saint David's Lutheran Church about 8 miles from Columbia. Burial was in that church's cemetery.
