Mary Lou Nastasi Malinosky died Friday, December 24, 2010 at 9:00 AM from complication following several strokes suffered beginning in 2007. She was at home with her husband Ron who had lovingly cared for her along with their children and the caring assistance of St. Josephs Hospice during the past 3 ½ years. She was truly one of New Orleans finest daughters. She was the youngest child of Jennie Agnes Lacey and Joseph Nastasi, born September 30, 1934 into a Sicilian/Irish family with four older brothers – Joseph, Eugene, Jack and Philip. She grew up in the colorful Irish Channel near the waterfront and graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1953. She initially worked at the Times Picayune where she met, fell in love and married her soul mate Ron on November 7, 1959. They eventually settled in Kenner and raised their three children – Lacey, Ronnie and Lisa.
Her parents, Jennie Agnes Lacey Nastasi and Joseph A. Nastaci, Sr. and her brothers, Joseph, Eugene, Jack and Philip preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Monday evening, December 27, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 2400 33rd Street in Kenner, LA beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose, LA. Daughter Lisa said, "We're taking Mom on her last drive around town which she would love."
