John Baring was born on 14 September 1801 at Lee, Kent, England. He was the son of Sir Thomas Baring, 2nd Bt. and Mary Ursula Sealy. He married Charlotte Amelia Porcher, daughter of Reverend George Porcher, in 1842. He died on 7 April 1888 at age 86. Lived at Oakwood, near Chichester, Sussex, England.
