Tango singer and poet. Born Julio María Sosa Venturini in Las Piedras. He worked various jobs to support his family while struggling with poverty. In June 1948, he moved to Buenos Aires where he started his singing career. He became one of the most famous tango singers of 1950s and 1960s. He recorded hits such as "La Cumparsita," "Cambalache," "Nada," and "Padrino Pelao." In addition to his singing career, he published a book of poetry, "Dos Horas Antes Del Alba," in 1960. He made an appearance in "Buenas Noches, Buenos Aires" (1964) one month before his death.
