Emma Louise was 3rd child born to Caroline [Lena] and Christoph [William] Aupperle when they resided in Audubon Co, Exira, IA.
She was married to Charles Albert Swinehart on 3 March 1920 at Council Bluffs, IA. They had two children: Roma Eleanor b. 6 Jan 1921 and Dale Allen b. 7 Jan 1923.

Before her marriage to Charles she gained a certificate from The Willows Maternity Hospital with a Special Course in Obstetric and Infant Nursing, located in Kansas City, MO. Dated 28 Aug 1919. [original certificate in my possession.]

Emma was a loving and very caring person, with a gentle spirit. Sadly she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1940 and died just after Mother's Day 1941.
She was greatly missed and mourned by her immediate family and larger circle of family and friends, who were many in number.

About Emma her youngest sister Hilda wrote: "Nature similar to her mother's--kind and gentle--joy to family--never a bad thing to say of anyone--first child in family to die [except Hulda, twin baby to Hilda]."

I regret that Grandma Em died before she could see her daughter married or know any of her grandchildren because she was a natural grandmother personality and loved babies; delivering many of her own siblings' children.
