TROPIC, UTAH-MaryEtta Pollock Chynoweth, 80, died Dec. 24, 2007, peacefully at home surrounded by her children. She suffered from Cancer caused by exposure to fallout from nuclear tests done in Nevada during the 1950's. MaryEtta was born December 25, 1926 in Tropic, Utah to Loram and Maggie Johnson Pollock.




She married Gene Arthur Chynoweth on Nov. 20, 1946 in the St. George Temple, and were blessed with six children. After 57 years of marriage, Gene preceded her in death March 3, 2003. Spending her whole life happily in Tropic, she excelled in cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting, sewing, gardening and still found time for her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved camping with her husband, Gene, during his years in the logging industry. MaryEtta was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings, which included positions in the Primary and Relief Society and was currently serving as Laurel Advisor in the Young Women's Organization. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.






Survivors include: children, Kathern (Rod) Syrett of Bryce Canyon City; Renon (Robert) Gibson of Henderson, NV; VerJean (Stephen) Clark of Cannonville; Kirk (Annette) Chynoweth and Danny (Robin) Chynoweth, both of Tropic; 47 grandchildren; 82 great-grand-children; sister, Clora Hardy and brothers, Denzil, DeLon and Wilbur "Bill" Pollock. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra; a sister, Maggie and brothers, Varcil, Woodruff, Keran and Sherrell.




Funeral Services will be held on Sat., December 29, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel, where Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the Tropic Cemetery.
