Donald L. Ritchie, Sr., 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 7, 2022. Don was born on June 29, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Fred and Gladys Ritchie, who preceded him in death. He served in the US Navy as a Navy Corpsman from 1948 to 1952. Don married Emma Jean MCauley on January 12, 1952. Jean preceded him in death. Don worked for many Co-ops as well as being an agriculture salesman for Kraft Foods and A. E. Staley while he and Jean raised their five children. He eventually retired from Tate & Lyle. Don had been a member of Brownsburg Masonic Lodge #241 for over 70 years. He was also a member of The Indianapolis Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine, and the American Legion Speedway post. Survivors include his sons Donald (Patsy) Ritchie of Avon, Timothy Ritchie of Fort Wayne, daughters Melody Wilson, Cindy (Richard) Haulk, and Robin (Bruce) Carlson all of Pittsboro as well as nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Becky) Ritchie and Rex (Linda) Ritchie both of Kokomo. He was preceded in death by a brother, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. A private family viewing will be held at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, Indiana. A chapel service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 6851 Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, Indiana on Wed. Jan. 12 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Don's name to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 28, 3706 S. LaFountain St., Suite C, Kokomo, IN 46902.

After his death, and the marriage of Gladys to Fred Ritchie, Fred adopted Don.
