Joel "Bemba" Abreu, 30, was born in Havana, Cuba, on Sept. 3, 1974. He was the son of Nancy Abreu and the late Domingo Abreu. He is survived by his mother, Nancy; his sisters, Nancy Kunken (Jimmy), Nora Abreu and Marisol (J.W.) Parks; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bemba was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be missed greatly. We will always remember his warm smile, funny jokes and how full of life he was. He was the life of the party. You will live in our hearts forever. We love you. Joel's family will receive friends from noon to 4 p.m. today at the Castillo and Thurston's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the chapel, with Father Francisco Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow at Key West City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castillo and Thurston's Key West Mortuary.
