Obituary for John Carlie Camps
John Camps was born in Jonesville, Florida on July 31, 1944, the youngest son of 12 children, born to the late Robbie & Essie Camps. He has two children, grands, and great grands. He has five children in love. He was an entrepreneur in the Orlando, Florida area and later retired to Gainesville, Florida. He was a member of Gainesville Church of God by Faith (COGBF). He served in the Home Mission Department.

John, better known as "JC", resided with his sister in Gainesville, FL. He was distinguished by his love for his family, neighbors and people in general. He looked forward to arriving at church early enough to walk around and give each person a peppermint before service started. He often shared his love for Pearl's daughters by giving them cookies and fruits. Equally, his nieces would spoil him with gifts and treats. He often was referred to by his sister as, "My baby." He would frequently request his nephew to pray for him and loved talking about God with him and watching the Florida Gators.

He can be characterized by his acts of kindness, such as giving treats to children, taking food to the neighbors and anyone who would visit the home. This character trait goes back to JC's father, Essie Camps, as you could not leave his house without "something" in your hand. There is also a notable, unbreakable bond between JC and his sisters who all provided faithful love and support to him.

JC simply followed the two greatest commandments in the Bible, "Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind; the second is like unto it; Love your neighbor as you love yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39)

Fond memories of JC as a devoted father will forever remain in the hearts of his children. JC was preceded in death by his mother, father and siblings: Dec. Essie Camps, Mother Robbie Camps, Vanilla Camps Bivens, Elder Joseph Camps, Bishop Walter Camps, Jessie Camps and James Camps. He was also preceded in death by his in-loves, Lady Nellie Mae Camps, Bro. Willie Sanders, Dec. Horace Sanford, Lady Sarah McKnight, Sis. Lola Mae Camps, and Bishop James McKnight, Sr. He leaves to mourn his remaining siblings and sibling-in-love. He will also be missed by scores of nieces, nephews, cousins and the entire Church of God by Faith family.
