Simmie J. Love was born to Launzy and Beatrice Hider Love in Meridian, Oklahoma on January 29, 1930. He was the fourth born of eight children. Simmie attended L'Ouverture School in Meridian. On February 25, 1950, Simmie married Lillie M. Wiley in Meridian, Oklahoma. To this union was born three sons, Donald, Marvin and Troy to whom he was a devoted father.
In 1952, Simmie and Lillie along with their son Donald relocated Blythe, California. Simmie was a man of faith. He accepted Jesus Christ and was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church. Simmie worked for various companies over the years which included, Blythe Alfalfa Growers Association and Blocker Transportation, as a Cotton Loader and Truck Driver. He then purchased his own hay loader and loaded hay for Orange Thrap Hay Co, H & S Hay Co., and Clark Company Hay Sales. He was never one to brag or boost he would worked quietly and do what he did the most until his retirement after 2005. Simmie served as a member of the Palo Verde Lodge #37. Simmie later married Lola Dee Youso on June 14, 1986, at the Baptist Church in Ripley, California under the leadership of his brother and then pastor, Robert L. Love, Sr. They were again married in the Mesa Temple. They became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Simmie proudly and responsibly bearing the office of the Melchizedek Priesthood and faithfully completing his home teaching assignments and providing service to the church members and community as needed. Simmie loved to travel. Some of his travels included Hawaii and Washington. When he had to retire his drivers license, he found another mode of transportation, a three-wheel bike. He would ride through town smiling and waving as he passed you by, sometimes stopping to offer you a ride. He gave a new meaning to ride share. On any given day you could find him at the Blythe Community Center where he faithfully participated in the lunch program and all activities, including dancing. Yes, he had a mean two step, salsa combo. He may have had a few aches and pains afterwards, but he never complained. He was also a regular at his favorite restaurant Steaks n Cakes. Simmie loved people and showed it in some many ways. He always dressed the way he wanted to be addressed. He was kind, humble and generous with a sweet spirit and let us not forget that infectious smile. His words and wants were few and most of the time his pain and worries went unspoken. His legacy and work ethics will forever live on through his son Troy. Simmie was a caretaker to his wife Lola and did it lovingly. He will be missed dearly. As much as he was loved by everyone God loved him more. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Marvin and Donald, his granddaughter, Renae Love, his brothers, Calvin and Robert L. Love Sr., his sisters, Alreece Luke and Erma Lee Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lola Dee, son Troy (Melinda), stepchildren, Michele Youso (Tonne Carr), Scott Youso (Rhonda), Tim Youso (Shelly), nine amazing grandchildren, thirteen wonderful great grandchildren, five step- grandchildren, four step-greatgrandchild, brothers, A.C. Love, Augustus (Jr) Love, sister Minnie Horton and a loving host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at Frye Chapel with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery.
