Claudette Harmon, age 79 of Cleveland, departed this life on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones and listening to Amazing Grace. Mamaw, Claudette, or Aunt Claudie as she was known was born on May 24, 1942 in Tellico Plains to the late Clarence and Dalia McKenzie; and was a spunky, firecreacker of a woman and a friend to everyone she met. Everyone knew they were welcome at her house and wouldn't leave her presence without a hearty hug and a " I Love you". She loved her family, Jesus, America, Donald Trump and listening to her scanner. She will be missed here on Earth but we all agree our loss is Heaven's gain. Claudette was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church. She can be quoted as saying "Call me old fashion, but repentance is still necessary, holiness is still right, and the blood still works."
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Antionette Schabell; daughter-in-law, Tamatha Schabell; and sisters, Effie Welch and Nina Brooks.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, Bill H. Harmon; sons, Howard Schabell, Eldon Jennings(Shannon), and Jesse Schabell(April); daughters, Jeanne Clements and Melissa Carden(Jackie); brothers, Dale McKenzie(Nola) and Franklin McKenzie; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, as well as several extended family members and a host of friends.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for Adoration Hospice and to special caregivers, Tina Schabell and Kaye Ward for their loving and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Cleophis Claudette McKenzie Harmon will be held at 3p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Goodwill Baptist Church located at 5270 Trewhitt Road SE Cleveland with Pastor Jackie Carden and Matthew Langridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Chilcut Creek Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
