William is the son of Joseph Asayvich Shubin and Unknown mother. He is the only known child.

He married Pauline Nicholas Seminoff before 1908 in Russia. His family immigrated in 1913 from Russia. They have nine children: John, Lenore, Nicholas, Mary, William, Pearl, Stephen, Dorothy, and James.

The 1920 U.S. federal census shows the family living in Maricopa County, Arizona. They were farmers. By 1930, the family lived on Potrero Hill in San Francisco, CA at 892 Missouri Street. William worked in a junk shop.

As a child I remember visiting Aunt Pauline at their home in Petaluma. They had a little pink house and the smell of the fields was divine. I won't forget that fragrance.
