On the 15th of May, of heart disease—Joseph Hardwick, an old and much respected citizen. Funeral from the Episcopal Church.
Joseph Hardwick Sr. had two sons with his first wife:
Joseph Owen Hardwick, who had a farm by Lake Darling, and was a Civil War Veteran. He moved to Colorado.
Penton Archer Hardwick, after the Civil War, went to California with his father, then they moved to Alexandria to join Joseph Jr. and lived in the Alexandria Minnesota area about 1870, but moved on to Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The third son, with wife #2, was William, so much younger than his older brothers.
Joseph's wife was Elizabeth "Eliza" Archer Owen.
