Richard was born to Audrey L. Dean and Robert M. Ames. In 1980 Richard married Phyllis "Jody" Pannel. She tragically passed six months later after Stephanie was born. In 1990, Richard married Nellie Allen, and they were happy to welcome daughters Sally O'Meara (Ames) and Carly Ames before their divorce. Richard was many things- a son, a father, a brother, a marine, a talented baker and cake decorator, an avid pool player, a 70's rock enthusiast, an animal lover, a motorcycle rider, and a self-identified child of God. Richard experienced numerous traumas in his life that led to struggles with mental health, addiction, and justice system. His life was both beautiful and brutal. A beautiful part of his life came after he completed the Bingham County Mental Health Court in 2008; the program was the beginning of a strong recovery that lasted 7 years. In that time, he cultivated a connection with God and became a Certified Support Peer Specialist for the State Hospital South. He also deepened his connections to his daughter and grandchildren. Richard attempted to imbue his children and grandchildren with a resounding respect for sweets, a belief in the worthiness in others, and an unshakable sense of their inherent lovability. Survived by his mother, Audrey L. Dean; his daughters: Stephanie Ames, Sally (Meg) O' Meara, Carly (Jada) Ames; Bonus children: Jason Slagowski, Addie Elmer and Kamal Conyers; his grandchildren: Cassidy Farnes, Kelsi Farnes-Ames, D. Jaykob Farnes-Ames, and Krystyn Wallace; eight siblings: Bobbi Brinkerhoff, Buddy Sohm, Rusty Ames, Jenna Daniels, Francis Ames, Robert Hall, Tiny O'Brien, and Buster Hall.
