Native American Activist and Co-founder of the American Indian Movement. He was an Anishinabe (Chippewa, Ojibwa) born in White Earth, Minnesota. In 1968 he, Dennis Banks, Clyde Bellecourt, and Eddie Benton-Banai founded the American Indian Movement (AIM) In Minneapolis, Minnesota. The founding of AIM began the Red Power Movement in the United States. His activism continued throughout his life. He was a believer in Indigenous Rights and had a Warrior's Spirit. His funeral was held in the Roman Catholic Church of Blessed Kateri (now the Church of Gichitwaa [Saint] Kateri) in Minneapolis with burial in Naytahwaush, Minnesota.
